Job Summery
The District Legal Officer is responsible for providing legal opinions, reviewing documents to assure its validity, reviewing contracts concluded by the Bank to make sure forms and substances are fulfilled. The job holder will also initiate legal actions and handle court cases as per the Bank`s policies and procedures and in close consultation with Legal Department.
Job Requirements
Academic & Professional Qualification
- Bachelor`s Degree in Law from a reputable university.
- Additional certification in law, banking, finance or similar fields is an added advantage.
- Knowledge on local language is an added advantage.
Experience
- At least five (5)years` post qualification experience.
Required Technical Competency
- Case management- ability to create appropriate litigation strategies, prioritize actions, ensure proper use of time and resources etc.
- Comprehensive understanding of litigation/dispute resolution with good knowledge in commercial law.
- Knowledge of and experience in alternative dispute resolution methods.
- Good understanding of internationally accepted best practices for effective contract management.
- Strong skills in drafting a variety of legal documents and communicating complex issues clearly and concisely.
- Ability to speedily grasp the essence, content and implications of the Bank`s constitutive documents in order to be able to provide advice on them.
