Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care:
- Assessing patients' physical and mental health: Taking vital signs, collecting medical history, performing physical examinations, and identifying potential health problems.
- Developing and implementing care plans: Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to create individualized plans for treatment, medication administration, and other interventions.
- Administering medications and treatments: Giving injections, applying dressings, operating medical equipment, and providing other necessary interventions.
- Monitoring patients' condition: Observing for changes in vital signs, symptoms, and overall well-being, and reporting any concerns to the healthcare team.
- Educating patients and families: Providing information about their condition, medications, and self-care instructions.
- Offering emotional support and comfort: Attending to patients' emotional needs and fostering a sense of trust and compassion.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintaining accurate documentation: Charting patients' progress, medications, and treatments, and adhering to record-keeping protocols.
- Communicating effectively: Collaborating with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and continuity of care.
- Promoting patient safety: Identifying and reporting potential risks and implementing safety measures.
- Staying up-to-date on new developments: Participating in continuing education and staying informed about current practices in nursing.
- Demonstrating leadership and teamwork: Participating in decision-making, delegating tasks, and collaborating with colleagues.
