Job Description
Key areas of accountability:
- Mobilize community for the implementation of MHNT project
- Facilitates in the identification and prioritization of activities and targeting for primary health interventions
- Ensures that the plan at the IDP site is prepared with the full participation of the community and partners;
- Facilitates community meetings and community action plan (CAP) preparation and ensure that the participation of each beneficiary and community group in the plan for their respective kebeles and villages;
- Facilitates and ensure that the participation of each beneficiary and community group in implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of CAP for their respective kebeles and villages;
- Work with community leaders, elders, and government staff and acts as a catalyst in initiating action and generating enthusiasm for change in communities by performing demonstrations and organizing and leading training sessions;
- Prepares final action plan of their respective kebeles and villages by breaking down into quarters and months and submit it to her/his supervisor
- Organizes and facilitates Information Education and Communication (IEC) sessions/behavioral change communication sessions with community members
- Create smooth work relationship with IDPs committee, HWs, and HEWs on mobilization linkage
- Arranges/facilitates cross visits and conduct capacity building on-site training for community leaders, committees, elders, youth groups, fodder production, and marketing groups members and representatives, and other members;
- Maintains good relationship with governmental and locally established iIDPs’ institutions for the smooth implementation of MHNT service package;
- Closely works with government counterparts and links the activities of the community with the relevant bodies;
- Develop a partnership with grass-root level stakeholders for the sustainability of programs;
- ensures beneficiaries have access to all available MHNT primary health services ;.
- Collects basic information from the IDP community, documents the information and practices, local practices that are best performing to the local conditions.
- Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans on her/his activities and submit to her/his supervisor;
Job Requirements
Education:
- Minimum of Bachelor in public health nursing, health education /environmental health.
Experience:
- Minimum three years working experience with a similar position.
- Experience in community setups is mandatory.
- Working with NGO is advantageous
Skills/Ability required:
- Solid technical skill in community mobilization.
- Demonstrated skills in IEC/BCC.
- Strong computer (Microsoft skills), and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good command in written and spoken English and Local language.
- Good human relation skills.
- Respect of Save the Children rules by anyone visiting the program;
- Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours
