Job Description

The Medical Data Clerk/Registrar will ensure the accurate collection and timely reporting of all medical data in support of the Samaritanā€™s Purse (SP) MMNU in the Jarra Camp, Amhara Region, North Wollo. This position requires commitment and understanding of SP Mission and Statement of Faith, as well as agreement and compliance with the Samaritanā€™s Purse Statement of faith and policies.

Job Requirements

Hours:

  • 40+ hours/wk

Key Responsibilities

General:

  • Uphold the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence.
  • Respect the SP values at all times, both within and outside of working hours.
  • Be prepared to work in Jarra IDP Camp and relocate at short notice.
  • Work closely with all members of the health team to provide the highest possible quality of care.
  • Treat all patients and their relatives with respect and dignity.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all patients.
  • All other duties as assigned while on the field.

Technical:

  • Collect accurate data from the camp MMNU concerning patient consultations, prevalent diseases, treatment, and referrals, ensuring all information is stored in a confidential manner
  • Compile and enter daily data into reporting database and forward it to HPM and medical data officer.
  • Assist HPM and medical data officer in compiling weekly and monthly reports as required for SP, Regional Health Bureau (RHB), WHO/other UN agencies, and donors, including EWARN.
  • Ensure that data collection supplies are available at all times, requesting stock from Health Project Manager or Data Officer as necessary.
  • Ensure that the MMNU database is backed up on a regular basis

Security:

  • Adhere to the SP security management plan
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records at all times
  • Report any issues regarding workplace practices to the appropriate Manager.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Attend weekly all-staff meetings, when possible
  • Work closely with HPM and medical data officer to ensure that work is carried out to a high standard
  • Ensure that all paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with SP and donor requirements

Education / Experience Needed

  • Diploma/certificate in computer studies
  • Experience working with an NGO is preferred

Language

  • English, required
  • Amharic, required

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
