Purpose of the Job
The Manager, Manage all transit and assessment issues to meet the objectives of the company. The incumbent plays the required administrational and coordination role among team members to give solutions for all process requirements, promote efficient business processes, and build knowledge, team spirit, and knowledge sharing.
Job Activities
- Planned, coordinated, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of all transit and assessment activities and also recommend improvements to achieve company goals.
- Monitor the general operations of all transit and assessment operations and evaluate performance in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Ensure all customs processes, procedures and regulatory requirements are being followed.
- Manage to make sure that the assessment and declarations are performed in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
- Develop important indicators that measure and show the effectiveness of the company’s transit and assessment operations
- Check the arrival of the import goods as per the shipping document within the required period of time.
- Arrange drivers or transporters to transport the imported goods
- Timely reply to any Customs inquiry and resolve the issue exhaustively.
- Create and manage customer relationships.
- Identify business opportunities with new and existing customers.
- Update staff team members with new rules and regulations about transit or customs.
- Supervise, direct and coordinate the transit team to help them handle their jobs properly.
- Coach, mentor, and supervise the transit team.
- Conduct employee performance appraisals periodically to evaluate how well employees have completed their duty and to take any needful action accordingly.
- Prepare a periodical report (weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually)
- Communicate with other stakeholders in relation to customs clearance & logistics process.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Company.
- N.B the job holder performs other duties as deemed necessary.
Job Requirements
Qualification
- BA or MA degree in Logistics/Supply Management or business-related field, with proven practical experience of 8 years for B.A degree and 6 years for an M.A degree
Key Competencies
- Having customs transit competency certificate, Personal Qualification
- Practical experience in Import and export customs clearing and forwarding.
- Clean record from ERCA.
- Excellent understanding of the logistic operation, and governing rules of the country;
- Good knowledge of international trade and logistic practice
- Excellent understanding of workflow processes
- Ability to consistently approach work with energy and a positive and constructive attitude;
- Self-starter and ability to manage work (perform) without supervision;
- Ability to remain calm and in control under pressure;
- Ability to meet short deadlines;
- Sound contributions to knowledge-sharing networks and communication of best practices;
- Strong personal commitment to learning the particular skills that her/his job requires
- Keen interest to work in transit and forwarding business;
- Basic computer skills, email, and other social platform usage
