Job Description

Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development non-governmental organization, operating in 46 countries with a focus on community development and humanitarian programs. Its country office in Ethiopia,Good Neighbors Ethiopia has a 25-year track record of assisting Ethiopia's most vulnerable and marginalized populations. GNE is present in Ethiopia's Amhara, Oromia, Benishagul Gumez, Sidama, SNNPR, and Addis Ababa city administration. The organization will start the project in the South Wollo Zone, Amhara region entitled “Cross-sectoral Rehabilitation Project for Conflict Affected Facilities and GBV Survivors in South Wollo, Amhara Region, Ethiopia” and we are looking for an energetic & well-experienced person. The project is funded by JPF (Japan Platform).

Overview of the Project

The overall objective of the project is to rebuild public infrastructure (such as health centers and schools) as well as enhance the lives of women who have been victims of gender-based violence.

Responsible To: Project Field Manager

Term of Employment: Fixed term (8 months)

Required Number: One (1)

Gender: Only Female

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Provide psychosocial support for gender-based violence survivors in the project area.
  • Closely work with stakeholders, women and social affairs officers, etc. to ensure that best GBV survival will receive adequate support.
  • Provide technical support to the women and social affairs officials regarding GBV protection and awareness issues.
  • Participate in Amhara protection cluster meetings to discuss protection issues with partners and UN agencies.
  • Work with affected schools in maintaining child right club in the schools to address child rights issues.
  • Maintain, monitor, and measure GBV project implementation and contribute to effective information management on GBV survivors.
  • Organized entrepreneurship training for gender-based violence survivors in collaboration with the small enterprise office and women and social affair office.
  • Help the gender-based violence survival in preparation of a business plan in collaboration with the small enterprise office and women and social affair office.
  • Participate in the development and production of communication materials (leaflets, posters, brochures) to raise awareness of GBV and outreach to the community.
  • Conducting training for gender-based violence committees to build their capacity and activate their role in GBV case management.
  • Work closely with other project staff to achieve the project outcomes effectively.
  • Submit quality reports as scheduled including but not limited to weekly, monthly, etc.
  • Carry out any other duties as outlined by the project field manager.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Psychology, Social psychology, mental health, psychiatric nursing, and  related field;
  • With a minimum of 2 years experience in gender-based violence prevention and response.
  • Practical experience in working with gender-based survival.
  • Attended training on GBV and is aware of protection and response issues.
  • Experience working with GBV cases.

Required Languages – English and Amharic

Skills:

  • Flexible and willing to work in rural communities especially field-based.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff and key stakeholders externally.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, including relevant staff working for the GNE.
  • Computer literate especially in MS word, MS excel, and PowerPoint.
