Engineer Assistant

Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development non-governmental organization, operating in 46 countries with a focus on community development and humanitarian programs. Its country office in Ethiopia,Good Neighbors Ethiopia has a 25-year track record of assisting Ethiopia's most vulnerable and marginalized populations. GNE is present in Ethiopia's Amhara, Oromia, Benishagul Gumez, Sidama, SNNPR, and Addis Ababa city administration. The organization will start the project in the South Wollo Zone, Amhara region entitled “Cross-sectoral Rehabilitation Project for Conflict Affected Facilities and GBV Survivors in South Wollo, Amhara Region, Ethiopia” and we are looking for an energetic & well-experienced person. The project is funded by JPF (Japan Platform).

Overview of the Project

The overall objective of the project is to rebuild public infrastructure (such as health centers and schools) as well as enhance the lives of women who have been victims of gender-based violence.

Duties and Responsibilities;

• Supervision of all construction work;
• Ensure all necessary measurements and control the quality of work. Actively participate in all engineering decisions required for the successful and timely implementation of the Construction Contracts in consultation with the line manager.
• Comprehensive supervision of project implementation activities carried out by the contractor to ensure complete compliance with the drawing, technical specifications, and various stipulations contained in the contract Documents;
• Prepare and submit a brief Weekly & monthly progress report with photographs,
• Review and check the construction contracts, and approve materials;
• Submit quality reports as scheduled including but not limited to weekly, monthly, etc.
• Carry out any other duties as outlined by the project field manager.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Background:

• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering/Construction Technology & Management or related field;
• With a minimum of 2 years experience in supervision.

Required Languages – English and Amharic

Skills:

• Flexible and willing to work in rural communities especially field-based.
• Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff and key stakeholders externally.
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization;
• Computer literate especially in MS word, MS excel database, and PowerPoint.
