Job Description

Purpose statement: Perform all required electrical corrective and Preventive maintenance of all workplaces within Repi soap and Detergent PLC. and technically supporting the operators. Assist during autonomous maintenance to reduce all technical down time of the company. Performs routine maintenance, installation and integration of various types of process control instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, controllers, integrators, recorders, square root extractors and final drive elements.  Make repairs to electrical power, motor and motor control circuits. undertake a variety of tasks relating to setting up and maintaining electrical infrastructure. Your job will involve installing electrical wiring in buildings and poles, troubleshooting malfunctions and blackouts and repairing appliances. The goal will be to produce and maintain well-functioning electrical connections to minimize the probability of accidents and maximize usability of electricity in all facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.
  • Perform field fault analysis – determines if instrument has failed or if it is a process problem.
  • Perform field calibration of instrumentation utilizing proper test equipment with support of Automation engineer.
  • Complete overhaul in shop environment to include component replacements, alignments and calibration to specifications of record.
  • Perform repair of signal transmission facility such as tubing, wiring, etc.
  • Assemble/dismantle, able to check components ad test E&I equipment’s in workshop,
  • Instrumentation to include pneumatic, electronic and digital equipment.
  • Perform fault analysis of hardwire relay logic, motor control circuits, motor power circuits (120V to 480V 3phase) and common utility / lighting circuits.
  • Perform installation of new control circuits, modification of existing instrument/electrical systems as requested, to include design, load and Implementation of new control logic.
  • Perform fault analysis of PLC based systems with control logic modification if required with a support of Automation engineer.
  • Perform analysis of incoming power from 15 KV line to 230/400V distribution lines.
  • Carry out maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, automation, and instrumentation of equipment applied by industrial motor controls, chemical feed systems, pump drives, and the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and upgrade of the Water Supply Division’s electrical distribution infrastructure.
  • Carry out thermography of electrical distribution panels and motor control
  • Troubleshoot problems by gathering and analyzing power quality data
  • Ensure longer life of obsolete equipment and save funds by carrying out detailed troubleshooting down to component levels
  • Perform maintenance, installation, repair, and troubleshooting of control centers, de-energized higher voltage equipment, and induction motors
  • Repair and maintain engine generators and carry out work on related control circuit equipment.
  • Carry out maintenance, repair, and installation of building circuits and similar equipment.
  • Perform maintenance of alarm and SCADA systems, electrical pneumatic and electronic controls, programmable controls, and other similar equipment.
  • Carry out necessary carpentry, welding, valve repair, cement, and pipe fitting work.
  • Prepare reports, maintain records, and requisition supplies and parts.
  • Inspect and supervise work done by external vendors.
  • Responsible to give an immediate solution whenever breakdown happens or corrective action needed with communication and team work along with other technicians, mechanics and operators.
  • Responsible to work extra time (over time) if the critical jobs are unfinished or if requested by the team leader or E&I Unit head as necessary.
  • Be more than 95% of duty time on the line with inspection, solving any issues on the line and coaching operators.
  • Responsible to work on regular checklists and any additional assigned tasks in both Repi and Alemgena sites as required.
  • Have to be able to understand and implement SOPs, different work instructions, troubleshooting procedure and wiring diagrams.
  • Responsible to make sure that equipment’s are on safe condition, well protected and on expected operating position.
  • Whenever if duty time is on shift, you are in charge of every E&I operation and activity in the factory, control every related operation and build immediate communicated with required person.
  • Ensure line technicians & operators coached in maintenance and operation of equipment.
  • Give technical support and training to operators.
  • Line technicians involved during second line support activities to ensure capability and knowledge transfer.
  • Trouble shooting process flows developed for common problems.
  • Immediate communication with immediate supervisors based on the escalation procedure if any challenge faces or emergency situation happens.
  • Specialized support provided on high skill tasks beyond the capability of line technicians.
  • Call-out support provided where necessary to shifts.
  • Aids maintenance planner in planning for specialized jobs.
  • Executes specialized maintenance activities.
  • Performs shutdown and maintenance activities according to schedule.
  • Have responsibility to work on assigned shifts as it may be day shift or any of the three (A, B, C) as required and requested.
  • Work closely with good communication ability with other line electricians/technicians and mechanics.
  • Manage and lead the first line maintenance team.
  • Motivate and direct the maintenance team to effectively and efficiently conduct maintenance activities.
  • Develop and train the team to achieve high level of machinery availability.
  • Resolve conflicts among the team and other related functions.
  • Maintains discipline in the team.
  • Ensure all critical spare items identified for critical equipment.
  • Critical spares included on material master & updates made as required.
  • Audit availability of critical spares on an ad hoc basis.
  • No line delays due to unavailability of critical spares.
  • Suggest or report when any abnormalities are observed or any spares required to improve the line efficiencies.
  • Relationships with equipment supplier/ manufacturer support personnel established.
  • Supplier updates received and read as they are received.
  • Requests for billable support from suppliers channeled through appropriate channels.
  • 3rd line support called in only after internal channels have been exhausted.
  • Keeps abreast of all relevance latest technology developments and equipment upgrades.
  • Manages equipment upgrades to latest technology.
  • All ancillary systems and processes (e.g., spares, tooling, training, WI’s) updated as required according to change control procedures.
  • Communicate immediate supervisor whenever further action is required additionally with requested tasks or any bypass or temporary solution is required to avoid any interruption on the lines.
  • Ensure all relevant Health & Safety legislation are complied.
  • Ensure unsafe conditions & work practices are identified and actioned.
  • Ensure relevant safety equipment and protective clothing are utilized.
  • Ensure hazardous substances are stored, handled and disposed of as per procedures.
  • Report Health & Safety incidents as per procedures.
  • Participate and take corrective actions on different safety and environmental related tasks.
  • Ensure all housekeeping standards are adhered to.

Job Requirements

Qualification:

  • Minimum of level III/IV Certificate or Diploma in Industrial/ Electrical or related fields from TVET/Collage.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as Technician in FMCG industry in Soap & Detergent industry.
