ROLE PURPOSE
Plan International Ethiopia is looking for an Emergency Finance Assistant. The post is intended to ensure sufficient cash is available in the program area office for the smooth running of office business and all cash commitments are achieved and also all financial documents are maintained.
DIMENSION OF THE ROLE
The Emergency Finance Assistant will be responsibly Responsible for all cash transactions necessary for effective office running including petty cash management, support cash-related project deliverables, and maintaining documentation as per the organization regulation.
The post-holder will be based in Debre Birhan.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure minimum cash balance is available for the normal functioning of the office at the Program area level.
- Avail all-cash requests of the PA and pay without any significant delay to the intended purpose as per the Program officers & Program coordinator's request.
- Check all financial documents are reviewed and approved before payments are effected.
- Replenish all documents on time so that the organization record shows up to date balance.
- Deposit all collected cash within a week to the organization account.
- Follow and pay all PA’s cash commitments are paid on time e.g. telephone, electric, & water bills.
- Keep records of all amounts paid, received and reconcile cash balance with records every working day.
- Report all cash shortage/ overage and all unpaid vouchers of more than reasonable time.
- Support the Program Area Finance Officer in paying tax issues to the relevant tax authority.
- Conduct monthly summary of pension, Income tax, and withholding tax and submitted to the finance officer to facilitate the payment
- Prepare check payments to suppliers and staff on time.
- Keep filling systems in which documents could be readily available, easily traced and ensure that all documents fulfill the appropriate source documents
- Support other staff on the finance-related issues
- Support the Program Area Finance Officer in Audit Facilitation.
- Others as the need arise and instructed by immediate supervisor.

- Maybe a “typical office environmentâ€; note if heavy lifting, climbing, excess travel, etc.

Job Requirements
Essential
- Diploma in Accounting/Business Management with at least two years of relevant experience.
- Safety issues in cash management.
- Best way of handling transactions.
- Bookkeeping and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills to process various document settlements like Excel.
- Ample knowledge of currency denominations and counting.
- Advanced computer skills, especially in Excel, Word, and use of the email
