Strengthening Rural Value Chain (SRVC)
SRVC supports the Ethiopian government and private sector organizations to improve the income and employment situation of actors along agricultural value chains of selected fruit, vegetable, oil crop, and other preferred commodities. The SRVC implements its project activities in selected woredas of the Oromia, Amhara, and Sidama regions.
Duration of contract: May 01, 2022 – December 31, 2024
Job Requirements
Financial Services
- monitors income, expenditure and the monthly bank reconciliation
- monitors real accounts (payables, receivables) and reports regularly to the officer responsible for the contract and cooperation and the accounting manager
- prepares the vouchers and receipts according to GIZ rules and regulations
- verifies correctness of vouchers including supporting documents
- make timely cash replenishment request when cash account reaches to the minimum balance
- correspond with satellite offices for timely submission of financial documents.
- ensure timely payment of utility bills & checking the correctness
- facilitating of settlement of travel
- taking a corrective action according to the IC report recommendation
- carries out accounting tasks using WINPACCS accounting software and prepares monthly bank reconciliation vouchers
- submits the end-of-month accounts from the project accounting, cash books and account balance vouchers (through or from WINPACCS) to the officer responsible for the contract and cooperation and forwards them to GIZ Country Office
Internal Control
- following up inventory for the office
- advises on financial aspects of projects
- ensures that procedures are followed by GIZ rules and regulations
General services for GIZ-assisted projects/programmes
- routinely monitors and check expenditures of local subsidy, financial agreement, grant budget
- check and compile all receivables of local subsidy budget and submit it to responsible project officer in Addis Ababa
- prepares analyses of local subsidy expenditure compared to the total budget allocated within the contract period time frame
- assists on follow-up of local subsidy funds to partners
Other duties/additional tasks
- reports all problems with financial administration and compliance without delay
- is responsible for filing in accordance with GIZ rules and regulations

Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
- University degree (BA) in Accounting, Business Management or equivalent.
Professional experience
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in related field
- Good knowledge of standard computer application such as MS Office application.
Other knowledge, additional competencies
- knowledge of GIZ rules & regulations and systems is a plus
- proven knowledge of English and Amharic language, written and spoken.
- trustworthiness and ability to maintain strict confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
- ability to organize and prioritize several tasks at the same time.
- ability to work independently, unsupervised, and as part of a multicultural and international team.
