In Ethiopia, Plan has more than 25 years of experience in implementing its program. Currently, PIE mainly operates in seven geographical areas; Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR, Gambella, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, and Addis Ababa City Administration on different projects funded by different donors including sponsorship.

Plan International Ethiopia's main purpose is to seek Gender Justice for Girls, Adolescent Girls, and Young Women. We aim to help create an enabling environment where girls, adolescent girls, and young women are safe, valued, equally cared for, and have equal opportunities. PIE will contribute to the global strategy by aiming to reach directly 2.1 million Girls, Adolescent Girls, and Young Women over the period of the strategy 2020-2024 and to reach an additional 6.3 million beneficiaries through its interventions.

The post holder is responsible for proper documentation, filing, and overall custodianship of the financial documents and facilitates the audit and YE activities and liaises the department with our stakeholders.Ā  ,

Accountabilities

  • Ensure minimum cash balance is available for the normal functioning of the office at the Program area level
  • Replenish all documents on time so that the organization record shows up to date balance
  • Deposit all collected cash within a week to the organization account.
  • Ensure that all documents are stamped to avoid double payment
  • Preparing payment voucher, cash receipt, withholding tax voucher for suppliers, purchase order, journal vouchers, and submit the hard copy to be reviewed & approved.
  • Review all documents before effect the payment according to all required checklist/government compliance, donor compliance, and depending on the organizational guideline
  • Support the Sub-Office Finance Officer in paying tax issues to the relevant tax authority.
  • Support the Program Area and Sub office Finance Coordinator and officers in Audit Facilitation.
  • Prepare documentation per standard
  • Ensures that adequate cash on hand is available for the daily operation of the office.
  • Engage the role of the Finance officer's duties and responsibilities in the absence of the finance Officer.
  • Performs any other duty assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.
  • Ensures that Plan Internationalā€™s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan Internationalā€™s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Experience Essential:

  • B.A. degree in Accounting. Ā At least two years of relevant experience with a financial transaction

Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of NGO environment.
  • Good knowledge of influencing others.
  • Good knowledge of accounting and Ethiopian taxes
  • Good analytical skill

Skills Specific to the Post

  • Knowledge on computer applications; Excel, word
  • Good communication skills

Competencies and values

  • Ethical, supportive, and team player
  • Self-motivated and self-starter
  • Able to work with minimum supervision on his/ her assignments
  • Enthusiasm to represent Plan International Ethiopia to others.
