We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Specialist: HR Business Partnering within the Resources Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the EHOD HRBP, the role holder will be a fully-fledged HR Generalist that contributes to the overall success of the Business/ Department /Division/ Group by providing functional expertise, converting business requirements into integrated people solutions and providing consultative and advisory services that enable Business Department/Division/Group performance.  The incumbent will partner with each of the HR COEs, People Leaders, as well as HRBP colleagues and other key stakeholders to ensure that their Business Units (Bu’s) are receiving a superior HR experience, and ultimately a high level of delivery.

Job Responsibilities

HR Service Delivery: 

  • Good understanding of procedures and concepts through extensive experience and supports the execution of local people plans through the provision of advice and execution of administrative activities
  • Supports the HR Business Partner team to deliver activities related, but not limited to HR Services  Support,  Resourcing, Reward and Recognition, Learning and Development, PD and Talent and International Mobility
  • Uses communication skills to exchange ideas and information in a concise and logical way
  • Acts as a point of contact for the business function and resolves problems using established precedents and methods to ensure all business areas’ issues are resolved.
  • Act as the HR services, systems/tools expert in close collaboration with the HR Services COE
  • Champions of the Spirit of Safaricom culture

Leadership and Management Development

  • Ensure understanding of management development programmes to ensure effective development at key transition points on the management/leadership ladder and drive uptake of development programmes relevant to BU-specific priorities
  • Coach executives across business areas, in collaboration with COEs

Organisational Capability

  • Work with L&D to build critical functional capabilities to enable the business areas to deliver against their plans
  • Ensure functional induction framework is developed and implemented & core organisational onboarding programmes are in place and being effectively used
  • Identify and deliver leadership team effectiveness solutions

Employee Engagement

  • Working with the broader HRBP team, ensure there is a full plan to drive and implement a personalised  employee engagement plan for the Business Unit
  • Working with people leaders and HRBPs to ensure engagement initiatives/action plans are being implemented and tracked within the business units

Performance and Reward

  • Drive 100% completion of goals and IDPs –including these being loaded on the system
  • 100% audit on all goals on IDPs.
  • Working with a line to implement PIPs, as well as effectively managing and tracking poor performance

Relationship Management & Partnering

  • Build a high ‘support & challenge’ relationship with leadership team members
  • ‘Walk the tightrope’ of being part of the business areas yet maintaining an objective HR perspective.
  • Working with HR COEs to build and implement effective business solutions
  • Working with Business leadership, Internal communications, as well as the employee council committee to build a harmonious working environment
  • Focus the business areas on the Vodacom Strategy and help people to recognise their part in driving performance

Support to HRBP team

  • Provide administration support to HRBPs
  • Plan & consolidate
  • Consolidate reports, and presentations for the team
  • Coordinate group initiates that are on the HR calendar for the team

Job Requirements

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

  • 3-5 years experience working in HR administration and generalist function
  • Foundational knowledge and experience in delivering a good employee experience
  • Exposure to Business Partnering with people and leadership engagement

Must have technical / professional qualifications

  • 3-year degree/diploma (e.g. Human Resources, Personnel Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Management, etc.) - essential
  • A post-graduate qualification would be advantageous
  • Ability to sit for long periods at a desk utilizing a PC
  • Ability to apply judgement to address customer root needs; includes asking targeted questions
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, prioritize multiple demands, exercise tact, discretion and meet deadlines
