Insurance Officer

DMC Construction Plc is a first-class General Contractor (GC-1) chartered in Ethiopia to provide services in civil work projects, mainly road construction and maintenance, building construction and maintenance, waterworks, airfield construction, water works construction, etc., would like to invite competent Candidates for the vacant position of Insurance Officer.    

General Duties and Responsibilities

The Insurance Officer plans, coordinates, and implements activities assigned to him/her. Buys insurance coverage for the company’s properties, settles insurance claims, renews insurance agreements, and pays insurance premiums. Keeps insurance-related documents safe in soft and hard copies.

Duties & Responsibilities of the position

• Plans organizes, and implements insurance activities assigned to him/her;
• Ensures that policies, procedures, and guidelines relating to insurance issues are well adhered to;
• Follows up the purchase of insurance coverage; evaluates coverage purchased;
• Investigates insurance claims whether they are proper or not;
• Notifies insurance claims when damage occurs on the property;
• Provides professional assistance in handling insurance claims;
• Follows up the process of reclaiming premiums;
• Follows up settlement of premium payments;
• Conducts survey of current market prices of materials;
• Maintains good relationships with insurance companies;
• Ensures timely insurance renewal of properties;
• Studies and submits his/her recommendations about new insurance coverage;
• Conducts surveys about insurance markets and submits his/her recommendations for relevant insurance coverage;
• Keeps insurance-related documents safe in soft and hard copies
• Performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

• B.A. Degree in Banking & Insurance or Management
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
• In-depth knowledge of the different types of insurance plans including vehicle, home, and business.
• Outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in computers and statistical analysis software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
