Job Description
Assists the Hotel Manager in directing and organizing the staff of Bon Addis Hotel to ensure first class service, food & beverage offerings and marketing to maximize profits and guest satisfaction. The main purpose of this job is to ensure the customer receives the highest quality of services. To assist the operational running of the bar, restaurant, room service and events and ensure that staff are fulfilling their duties to the best of their ability in providing excellent customer service, maintaining high standards of hygiene, health and safety, ensuring high standards and efficiency of work and maintaining strict stock and financial control.
 TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- OBTAIN THE HIGHEST QUALITY OF FOOD & BEVERAGE SERVICE
- Assist in Interviewing, selecting, training, supervising, counselling and disciplining outlet staffs.
- Supervising the floor during meal periods to ensure that all standards and steps of service are met through all guestsâ interactions.
- Ensuring that checklists, requisitions, and proper opening and closing functions are being completed each shift.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the staff.
- Observe performance and encourage improvement where necessary.
- Ensure staffing levels are accurate based on hotel and outlet business levels. Organize and conduct pre-shift and departmental meetings communicating pertinent information to the staff, such as house count and menu changes.
- Communicate with guests and employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information.
- Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for the staff and other hotel employees.
- Ensure basic standard operating procedures for the hotel are always in place.
- Ensuring that all steps of services as outlines in training materials are being followed daily.
- Interact positively with customers promoting hotel facilities and services. Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved parties. Answer telephones in a clear voice, coordinate and document reservations. Organize special events in the restaurant such as receptions. Maintain rapport with all departments and attend relevant occasions.
- Move throughout the facility and kitchen areas to visually monitor and take action to ensure food quality and service standards are met. Verify temperatures, judge appearance and taste of products and check preparation methods to determine quality.
- Give guidance toward improvement and make necessary adjustments for consistency.
- Utilize computer to accurately charge customers, create forecast and revenue reports and write correspondence. Input and retrieve data and change computer procedures using complex series of keypunches to program system.
- Ensure that all standards and hotel cash handling procedures are met.
- Ensure all venues open on time and that they are always ready for business and Keep staff busy and productive.
- Ensure staff meet the standards of the outlets, addressing and correcting bad practice where need be.
- Maintain back of house to a high standard.
- Liaise on shift with Head Chef to resolve problems and ensure great service.
- Complete daily paperwork to ensure the safe running of the venues, and for those standards to be monitored and maintained throughout the shift.
- Pre-empt and actively responding to problems that arise and keeping management up to date.
- Ensure all venues close on time, end of day jobs completed to a high standard, staff are signed off promptly, all back and front of house areas checked and secured and that venues are in excellent order for the next dayâs service.
- To actively maintain all areas within your remit, i.e. toilets, smoking area.
- To clean and maintain all equipment and notify management of any issues.
- Assist in cash handling procedures as required.
- Feedback on your shift to the managers and supervisor taking over.
- Prepare timely reports.
- Perform other duties as per the General Manager instructions.

Our hotel is located at Bole, on the way to Saris from Ethiopian Skylight Hotel, a walk distance from the National Meteorology Agency, the backside of the new Habesha Beer Head Office.
