Job Description
Strengthen PSNP Institutions and Resilience II (SPIR II) is a 5-year USAID/BHA funded Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA) led by World Vision and including consortium partners CARE, ORDA, and IFPRI. World Vision and its partners will create a strong, shock-responsive ecosystem of public, private, and community-level actors to support PSNP households to graduate from poverty and sustain income and food security gains in 17 targeted woredas in Amhara and Oromia regions. Building from key formative and research studies during an initial refinement period, SPIR II will use continuous learning to drive program-level reflection, analysis, and adaptation.
Purpose of the position:
As a part of World Visionâs efforts to increase the overall reputation and trust of the organization in Ethiopia, the Grant Communications Coordinator for the SPIR II Project, provides strong communications services throughout the lifecycle of the project, ensuring the donor's visibility and reporting requirements are met and that World Visionâs brand is brought to life through compelling evidence-based storytelling. To achieve this, the role will focus on World Visionâs core communications strategies; Ignite Content, Ignite Global Voices, and Ignite Staff.
Major Responsibilities:
- As the communications representative for [PROJECT NAME], manage the creation and distribution of communications products for the project that builds World Vision technical brand awareness and increases trust locally and internationally, especially with donors
- Develop a grant communications plan, in alignment with global grant communications standards and donor visibility requirements, that positions World Vision positively with the donor and with local target audiences
- Create compelling content and stories of the [PROJECT NAME] in alignment with World Visionâs global brand that ensures evidence of impact
- Leverage the content created through appropriate social and traditional media channels as defined by World Vision and Donor priority audiences
- Ensure designated spokespersons for the project speak as trusted ambassadors for World Vision
- Coordinate and manage donor visits
- Ensure project reporting is developed to a high-quality standard and is engaging for donor audiences
- Develop and support the implementation of behavior change communications and campaigns that support project delivery
- Support internal engagement communications and initiatives to ensure staff across Ethiopia are connected, engaged, and inspired to fulfill Our Promise as it relates to [PROJECT NAME]
- Create high-quality communications resources such as
- videos for social media, donors, and broadcast documentary content
- photo stories and essays
- graphic design materials, such as factsheets, capacity statements, publications, and reports
- media relations materials such as press releases, statements, and briefings
- articles and stories social and website deployment
- Monitor, analyze, and report on local communications metrics ensuring data-based decisions lead to increase the effectiveness of digital and web engagement
- Manage ContentFlow, StoryHub, and other content management systems
- Ensure the security and cataloged management of all Communications design digital assets
- Ensure effective communications job flow and project management with Head Office Communications & Marketing teams such as; Creative Services, Public Engagement, Internal Engagement, Marketing Operations, Supporter Engagement, as well as national level Advocacy campaigns - ensuring calendars, timetables, schedules, and itineraries are kept
Job Requirements
Qualifications:Â Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
 Required Professional Experience:
- 4-yearsâ experience creating and leveraging high-quality communications resources in the international humanitarian and development sector, corporate and business communications, or creative sector
- Demonstrated experiences working with external production partner relationships, such as agencies or production companies
- Advanced technical skills in several of the major areas of the job, such as; video and photo production, graphic design, editorial and story writing, social and traditional media, and in Microsoft Office and creative applications such as Adobe Creative Cloud
- Proven experience of training and capacity building of others
- Advanced level of computer proficiency, Mac and PC
- Experience working with children and youth
Qualification required:
- Degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Business, Media, Journalism, Arts or similar
- Professional certifications in any of the technical areas of communications or marketing
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of the marketing, communication, and media industry
- Thorough knowledge of international development, World Vision development practice, and marketing and communications needs
Working Environment / Conditions:
- Working primarily in the head office in Addis Ababa, semi-regular travel locally and internationally will be required.
